Grappling & Striking
﷯Most MMA moves fall into two general categories: Grappling and Striking. To become a high level MMA contender and athlete, you'll need to master both grappling as well as Striking, while focusing on solid technique. Over time you'll discover which style is your best. If you're a grappler you'll prefer to close the distance and take your opponent to the ground, where you can punch them or you'll try to use various MMA moves such as some form of submission hold until your adversary submits and the referee ends the fight. If you'd rather keep your distance from your competitor using punches, elbow strikes, kicks and knees while standing you'd be considered a Striker. This strategy aims to wear down and knock out opponents. As you can tell, MMA moves come from a combination of various martial arts. Those include boxing, Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, wrestling and more. ﷯ At Tenbears Dayton Martial Arts Academy, we provide introductory, intermediate and advanced levels of Dayton Mixed Martial Arts training.
