Martial Arts Builds Self-Confidence, Self-Esteem and Self-Respect
Dayton Kids Martial Arts lessons and training at Tenbears Martial Arts Academy build self-confidence, self-respect and self-esteem. As students see improvements and begin to believe in themselves and their abilities, they learn ways to deal effectively with many of the challenges they'll face as become teens and then adults. What Every Kid Needs to Hear
﷯Just a few thousand years ago, our ancestors were hiding in caves, huddled together for warmth and protection. Every day was a matter of life or death. Doesn't it make sense that our society would have some pretty deep-set issues around fear and success? With that said, it doesn't mean we can't turn those issues around. It starts with what you tell your own children, today. Here are two things every kid needs to hear: 1. You're fine the way you are. You are who you are, and that's good enough. I love you no matter what. 2. You can't control others. Being nice to others doesn't mean they'll be nice to you. Being respectful doesn't mean you'll get respect. Don't sweat it when someone's nasty toward you. It has nothing to do with you, or who you are. Be kind and respectful anyway. Your kids martial arts instructor, Sensei Jim Help your Child Build Self-Esteem and Confidence ﷯I was reading an article on Yahoo about five things parents should never say to their kids. Every rule has its exceptions, but I thought these had a lot of wisdom in them: 1. "I don't care." As Elie Wiesel put it, "The opposite of love is not hate, it's indifference." 2. "Act your age." Usually when kids are acting out, they're having trouble themselves. Address the issue. Don't suppress it with a line like this. 3. "Say you're sorry!" Don't force your kid to apologize. Instead, guide them to seeing why their actions hurt someone else... .. And guide them to apologizing on their own. 4. "Don't you get it??" If you've taught your kid something, and they still are having trouble with it, obviously they don't get it. Asking this just makes them feel insecure. Instead, find out that they're having trouble with and resolve it. 5. "I'm going to leave without you!" Kids need stability more than anything. Lines like this, no matter how insignificant they might seem, rock that stability. Look, parenting is probably the hardest thing on the planet! So if you slip up from time to time, no one's going to hold it against you. But try to take these tips to heart. They could really help. To great success, Jim R.
